March finds my wife and I preparing for our cruise. We are going to celebrate 5 years of marriage approximately 9 months late. Thus, it’s really closer to a celebration of 6 years of marriage. I guess, in the end it really doesn’t matter what we call it, all that matters is that we are taking some time off to celebrate our relationship with each other.
One Really BIG Savings Goal for 2019
Goals, plans and new years resolutions. Those are the things that people do each year in anticipation for a brand new year. They’re going to make changes for the better. They’re going to start working out or losing weight. They’re going to buy a new home or pay a crazy amount of the mortgage off this year. Most new year’s resolutions are short term and only really focus on one year. It makes sense to focus on a small timeframe to make things attainable. However, I have never been a big new year’s resolution fan, as most people don’t follow through with their resolutions.
Year of Frugality: Month 4 Update
Well, April is in the books and I am smack dab in the middle of baseball season. This means late nights and less time with my family. However, I truly love baseball season. I really enjoy the smell of the grass, the time outdoors and coaching up kids to play the great American pastime.
Year of Frugality: Month 3 Update
Just like that, we are one fourth of the way through 2018! Once again, we made really good progress in the spending realm and came up spending the least amount of money this year! This makes us pretty happy in the Summit of Coin household! We even took a little trip to the Laredo to visit my wife's grandmother. This trip was great for our family as got a chance to relax and I even found the time to play a round of golf. We were also helped out with a decrease in our childcare bill, because I had spring break. Our daycare charges half price, if you don't take your child during the week. Therefore, we saved a little money!
Year of Frugality: Month 2 Update
Well February is over and I am pretty happy with the progress we made this month. Despite our struggles with more unexpected expenses, we still found a way to cut back and come out under budget in February (Yippee). We even took a little trip to the Austin area to visit my wife's grandmother. This trip was great for our family as we visited a state park, went hiking and then enjoyed a nice lunch. A couple weeks after that trip, we got the opportunity to watch Garth Brooks in concert. Both of us have always wanted to see Garth, but never had the opportunity. Luckily, he came to the Houston Rodeo!
